From the time I was a young kid, one thing about Uncle Zack was clear. He treated and spoke to the youngest person with respect and intelligence. There was no trace of baby talk or condescension, as he gave freely and warmly of his abundant experience and wisdom. None of us know when our time would be up, but I regret one thing.
We should not be meeting like this, dear family.

To all the Njeuma Children, Grandchildren, Great- Grandchildren and In-laws,
The Lord has called to rest the Patriarch of this family. To all who truly knew Uncle he took this role very seriously and the Lord blessed him for that.
After the death of his beloved father he took on the role of Papa for all.
As a Historian, Cameroon has lost a great man. To all scholars of History in West Africa and abroad one of the greatest contributors has been lost.
His journey has impacted the lives of many and the depth of this scholar will forever be appreciated by many.
May he rest in perfect peace.

Dear Mrs. Njeuma,
I was shocked to hear about the untimely passing of Dr. Martin Njeuma. Please accept my most heartfelt condolences. His passing is a great loss to the academic community in Cameroon and internationally. I recall our first meeting in Columbia, South Carolina. Dr. Njeuna had come as a Fulbright Scholar. He gave me valuable advice at a time I was a struggling, inexperienced university administrator. His advice gave me self-confidence which translated to being prepared and focused. The last time I saw him was in Buea in 2007 when I visited Cameroon and in his usual joking style he talked about visiting Korea since he had retired and had lots of time on his hands. He will be greatly missed but his words of advice will live on as we pass them along to the next generation.
