TRIBUTE TO PROF. MARTIN ZACHARY NJEUMA

A giant Professor has fallen;

A great hero has dropped;

A beloved son of God has passed on; incredible, unbelievable.

Sorrow, pain, frustration, consternation, resignation, shock, indignation and despair have gripped family members and friends alike. The academic community is mourning, the Bakweri community is wailing, the South West is bleeding profusely, Cameroon is agonising. What a big loss! Isn’t this too much given the love which you had for your people? Prof, you will not want to see your people suffer; you will not want to see your people in pain, because you were a man of God.

When all else is said and done, Prof, like Abraham Lincoln, you picked all the weeds and planted flowers. You were an excellent person, nice to everybody. Your love for people was transcendental and your admiration for people was genuine. You will be greatly missed by all and sundry, but Nico Halle knows that you lived a complete, fulfilled and accomplished life, to God’s glory. You have also left behind a united and kind family, glued by your wife the venerated Dr. Mrs. Dorothy Limunga Njeuma, an icon in her own right.

On the heels of the above, your legacy is inestimable love, humility and goodness that you had for mankind. I would have loved to be at your burial, but I am abroad attending an international conference. I bring my heartfelt condolences to the entire Njeuma family, mourners and well-wishers, through Dr. Mrs. Dorothy Limunga Njeuma.

To God be the Glory.

 Nico Halle

Uncle Zac,

You gave me a home in Yaounde when I needed one.

You accepted me for who I am even though I was so unpredictable.

You accepted my witty ways of thinking and regarded them as a sign of maturity.

You visited me regardless of where I lived even though you were the parent.

You remained humble at all times and helped those in need who came across your path, be they family or not.

Like a rose which has slipped across a crack in a fence I know you now bloom in your heavenly father’s court.

May your soul have eternal peace and rest!

Your niece, Rosa Befidi-Mengue

The Njeuma "Buma Tree" has fallen

Yes, just like the women who went to the Tomb, saw the large stone and asked "who will roll it away?", you wanted to know the management of Diabetes, Giant Cell Arteritis, sinuses and loss of sight. No more insulin twice everyday, blood sugar level; The Lord had all the answers to your questions.

Tatee, sorrows have sharpened my understanding better. Thank God for giving you the rest no human being could give.

Rest in perfect peace, until we meet to part no more.

Your sister, Giyu Emilia Ewowise Ephanga

Dear Zac,

Your exit came so fast, but never mind, it was God's Will. It was pleasant knowing and interacting with you all these years. We enjoyed your jokes as well. If by chance you meet George as you move on, please greet him for me.

May your soul rest in peace.

Adieu,

B. Embele Ekema

Mola Zacs,

The pleasure's weary smile.
But then it came, and you went so quick.
Uncle now we are empty without you.
Your departure is indeed a great loss.
Greet Mola Paul, Mbamba and Mola Namanga.
Yes we shall meet again.
