Uncle, you were the glue that held it all together. The one everyone ran to when they had a problem. It must have been a tremendous burden but it was one you embraced enthusiastically.

I vividly remember spending some of the long holidays in the 80's with you and aunty Limunga at the Bastos house where you would challenge me to write essays on abstract topics and comment on my penchant for 'big' words.

I recall the non judgemental stance you took during my late teens when even I would admit I had become a bit of a 'problem'. I distinctly remember you referring to that period in my life as 'youthful exuberance'

During my trips home in Dec 2006/7 and again in Dec 2007/8 we had lunch at the OIC restaurant in Buea where you would not entertain the notion of me paying. How very typical!!

I had become aware of your ill health in recent months and the effect on your sight but never imagined you would be leaving us. The memories however will live on. Sleep well.

Prof. Martin Njeuma was not only my University professor but was also my mentor. On this sad occurence which has once again hit the family, please accept my most profound sympathy and condolences. Prof. was such a good man, a gentleman par excellence, who can find? I have quite pleasant memories of his personae and deeds. He supervised my post- graduate thesis in the University of Yaounde and we kept in touch afterwards even whilst I was in London and in Washington,DC. I will personally miss him accutely. We should however all derive strength from the Lord and the legacy of love that our departed patriarch has left behind.

Stay blessed.

Dearest world's best Uncle.

I thank you for all what you did for me , the sweet memories of you will last forever in me. World's best Uncle, I say thanks a million. Thank you Uncle for making my life be what it is today. Thank you for all your advice. Thank God Almighty for giving us such a "Giant Boabab tree uncle". This, I say to death "be not proud for it is by dying that we turn to live with the Almighty" and death will have no place in us again. World's best Uncle, rest in perfect peace till we meet to part no more.

Amen.

Love Marlene

Prof. supervised my pre-doctoral work at ESSTIC...Ethnicity and Power in Cameroon. Quite a time we had meandering through a jury made up of Beti Supremacists, led by Prof the Honourable Jacques Fame Ndongo, determined to nail Ntemfac A.N. Ofege for daring to mention beti supremacy. Naturally, Professor Njeuma always had big shoulders. He took the heat while I sat behind him and grinned.
Prof. I doff my HAT to you. I am glad that you fashioned a vital part of me. And it shows.
May my God be Merciful to you..and May he keep you in his bosom in Jesus Name

Dear Uncle Zac, you have been my anchor in the Njeuma family. I remember how much you committed yourself to rally the Njeuma family to go to the Atabongs in Gardens Limbe to perform traditional marraige rights so Njeuma and I could settle down in matrimony. You never gave up until the first meeting took place.

I remember our very first encounter when you visited myself and Njeuma in London, I almost got into a panic attack just thinking how I would host someone of your caliber. I was seeking advice from my friends on how to receive my in-law who happens to be a very 'big man'. The Uncle Zac who visited us in London turned out to be the most humble, down to earth, loving and playful uncle I never imagined. I became very comfortable with you because you made me feel comfortable.
Thank you Uncle for the light you brought into my life.

I cherish the times we spent together in London, Atlanta, Limbe, Buea, Yaounde, every moment with you was very special because you showed me nothing but love and care like I was your own child.  I thank you for giving me your shoulders to lean on when life seemed like a big dark cloud around me, you never refused to listen to me, distance has never been a problem. Your words gave me peace of mind, never judgmental and I will never forget that.

Thank you Uncle for being a grand father to Livita and Embelle, they have fun memories of you because you showed them nothing but love. They were able to play with you around the house, ask you all kinds of questions and they remember you too well.

Thank you for being Uncle Zac, I pray that you journey home safely and find the right place in God's Kingdom to watch over us until we meet again. I know your humility, loving and caring nature has left a mark in my heart and your legacy will live on.  Rest IN Peace Uncle. I will always love and remember you because you were love.
